Matt Monteiro, Driller Wrestling Club coach

DWC Program Head Coach / Driller Elite Head Coach

Matt Monteiro

A lifelong wrestler and coach with 19 years of coaching experience, Coach Monteiro brings a proven background as both an elite competitor and a developer of wrestlers at every level.

Coach Granata leads the Roughnecks program with 10 years of coaching experience, building technique, confidence and a championship work ethic for developing wrestlers.

Adam Fierro

A Driller Wrestling Club and Bakersfield High School alumnus and former Cal State Bakersfield wrestler, Coach Fierro is entering his seventh season as the BHS head wrestling coach.

Brian Lujan

A four-year varsity wrestler at Clovis West High School and Cuesta College wrestling alumnus, Coach Lujan brings extensive folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman experience into the DWC room.

Donny Johnson

Coach Donny Johnson has dedicated more than a decade to developing young athletes through wrestling and football programs in Kern County. He began his coaching career as Program Coordinator for the Wasco Youth Wrestling Club, where he spent eight years mentoring and guiding youth athletes both on and off the mat.

Currently, Coach Johnson continues his commitment to youth athletics by supporting the Driller Wrestling Club and the Driller Youth Football Program. Reid Orozco

With nine years of wrestling experience and three years coaching with Driller Wrestling Club, Coach Orozco brings a strong foundation in wrestling technique, competition and athlete development. As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, he also brings experience in grappling, positional control and submission-based techniques.

Joey Kuntz

A former North High School standout and member of Bakersfield College’s 2004–2005 State Championship team, Coach Kuntz brings 14 years of coaching experience across youth and high school wrestling.

Albert Urias

A former NCAA Division I wrestler at Cal State Bakersfield, Coach Urias combines high-level competitive experience with eight years of youth coaching throughout Kern County. He has led the DWC Lil Bits program for two years, creating a strong and positive foundation for the club’s youngest wrestlers.

As a former Bakersfield High School boys assistant coach, he helped all 14 wrestlers qualify for the state meet during his first year—only the second time in program history—and coached multiple state medalists. In his first year as the BHS girls head coach, three athletes advanced to the state meet, the most in program history.
